Welcome & Hospitality Team
The Welcome & Hospitality Team is often the first impression someone has of Grace Community Church.

Making Everyone Feel at Home
The Welcome & Hospitality Team is often the first impression someone has of Grace Community Church. We take that responsibility seriously — and joyfully. Our mission is simple: make sure every single person who walks through our doors feels seen, valued, and at home.
Our Serving Areas
Parking Team — Rain or shine, our parking team greets guests in the lot, directs traffic, and helps with accessibility needs. They're the first friendly face you'll see. Shifts: 15 minutes before each service.
Door Greeters — Stationed at every entrance with a warm smile, an open door, and a genuine hello. Greeters help visitors find the sanctuary, restrooms, children's check-in, and the Welcome Center.
Welcome Center Hosts — Located in the main lobby, Welcome Center hosts answer questions, provide visitor gift bags, help with connection cards, and introduce guests to staff or ministry leaders.
Ushers — Guide people to seats, distribute bulletins, assist with offering collection, and help maintain a smooth flow during services. Ushers are also trained for basic emergency response.
Coffee & Refreshment Team — Prepares and serves coffee, tea, juice, and light refreshments before and after each service. Our coffee bar is one of the best gathering spots for conversation and connection.
Fellowship Meal Coordinators — Organizes monthly potluck lunches, special event catering, and the setup/cleanup crews that make it all happen behind the scenes.
The Hospitality Standard
We train our team on what we call the 10-5-1 Rule:
At 10 feet: Make eye contact and smile
At 5 feet: Offer a verbal greeting
At 1 foot: Shake hands, introduce yourself, and ask how you can help
We believe hospitality isn't a program — it's a posture. Everyone is a guest of God, and we treat them accordingly.
New Member Connection
We also coordinate the Starting Point lunch — a monthly gathering (second Sunday, after the 11:00 AM service) where newcomers can meet the pastors, learn about the church's vision and values, and find their place to connect. A free lunch and childcare are provided.
Join the Team
This is one of the easiest ways to serve — no special skills required, just a friendly heart. Most roles involve arriving 30 minutes early on the Sundays you're scheduled (typically 1–2 times per month). Contact David & Karen at welcome@gracecommunity.org.
"Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it." — Hebrews 13:2
